In laminated composites the damage can vary through the material thickness from barely visible impact damage (BVID) at the impacted surface to extensive damage at the reverse surface. Also at higher impact velocities, material behaviour becomes strain-rate dependent. As Workpackage Manager for NDT/SHM in the EXTREME Project, the TU Delft is developing instrumentation for both dynamic measurement of strain during the impact and post-impact characterisation of damage. This vacancy is focused on developing post-impact characterisation instrumentation and algorithms using terahertz (THz) imaging.

R&D Global Technology Center (GTC) is looking for an innovation engineer who will work in a team responsible for advanced sensors design and algorithms for new processes involved in home and professional appliances The successful candidate will be asked to develop new modules/systems/product concepts integrating innovative technologies explored and optimized by all GTC departments, to include new sensing technologies, new materials for chemical and physical sensing devices, specifications, prototypes creation and experimental testing/validation. The position involves working in an international, multi-competence and cross-product line environment. The ideal candidate is innovative in coming up with new ideas that add value to the customer and constantly challenges the status quo. She or he strives for a visible, measurable benefit from every action. Requirements: Education: • Masters Degree (M.Sc.) or preferable Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field. Technical Skills: • Good knowledge of analytical instrumentation, electronic instrumentation and computer interfacing • Good knowledge of sensing technologies and related measurement methods and instrumentations. • Fundamental knowledge of home appliances and related production processes • Good knowledge in Computer Vision algorithms, signal processing, advanced algorithms (fuzzy logic, artificial intelligence, genetic algorithms, etc..), machine learning, data mining, control systems design • Good knowledge of statistical computing methods and tools for pattern recognition and sensors data analysis • Knowledge of DOE and quality tools • Knowledge of signal and data processing software tools (e.g. Labview, Matlab, Simulink, R) • Good knowledge in firmware and software programming language in (e.g. C, C++) • Good knowledge of Linux OS • Fundamental knowledge of experimental analysis mechanical systems.
